This 2-part seminar explores American work behavior--what Americans do and why they do it. It covers culturally-based assumptions on how people take ownership within teams, make decisions, communicate, and build trust, in addition to other topics.

This course surveys variety in American life, taking a look at the different regions of the country, as well as cultural variables like education, race & ethnicity, and wealth & poverty.  General language learning is through discussion of the content and related vocabulary. A secondary course emphasis is on giving presentations to an American audience.  

This course focuses on confidence and fluency in day-to-day English. Activities will focus on developing speaking fluency and expressing ideas, increasing vocabulary, getting familiar with slang and idiomatic speech, and some grammar.

This mini course gives a glimpse of real-life America through journalistic accounts. Students will listen each week to stories and experiences of American life and then discuss them in class in order to understand American culture and expand their vocabulary and fluency.

This content-rich, skills-based course helps you engage your American colleagues in conversations that will build constructive relationships and minimize misunderstandings. Each week we will examine different questions about building relationships -

Work Life: What do good work relationships look like? What is universal and what differs by culture?

Social Life: What does American friendship look like? How do Americans approach social interactions? How can I connect well with Americans in social settings?

The Relationship-Building Process: How do we get started? How can I have better friendly conversations with Americans, and how can I have better conflict conversations with Americans? And very practically, how do I gracefully start and exit conversations in English?

This mini course gives a glimpse of real-life America through journalistic accounts. Students will listen each week to stories and experiences of American life and then discuss them in class in order to understand American culture and expand their vocabulary and fluency.

This course is designed to increase English confidence and fluency in the skills of speaking, reading, listening, vocabulary, and grammar. Lessons will be structured around topics of better communication and building interpersonal relationships.

This course builds the advanced culture and language skill necessary to give constructive criticism in a way that will effectively motivate change; it also explores the American “compliment culture” (positive feedback), and strategies for saying no in a clear and respectful way.

The Professional English Course focuses on building fluency and expanding English vocabulary through discussions on various topics, such as business, social life, current events, history, and technology.

This course is a multi-skilled English class that is built around podcasts and their themes.
